The copper patch cords have played a central role in the development of general purpose and structured cabling systems and are used today to connect virtually all network components regardless of specific applications or industries.
Copper patch cords are quickly becoming a familiar part of our daily lives as Ethernet systems provide an increasingly flexible and cost-effective way to carry voice, data and multimedia over integrated networks. We can see them in work areas in a variety of commercial and educational buildings.
The use of copper patch cords is common, but they have some important differences that can limit interchangeability. This white paper explores the differences in Ethernet cable and connector properties, related standards, major suppliers, and other information to guide your purchase.

1,Different types (categories) of copper patch cord
The copper patch cable, patch cord or patch lead is an electrical used to connect (“patch in”) one electronic to another for signal routing. Devices of different types (e.g., a switch connected to a computer, or a switch to a router) are connected with patch cords.
These patch cables are described by their different categories, e.g. CAT 5e patch cables, CAT 6 patch cables, CAT 6a patch cables, CAT 7 patch cables, CAT 8 patch cables etc, which are often recognized by the TIA and they are summarised below:

4,Connectors of the copper patch cable
l A registered jack (RJ) is a standardized physical network interface for connecting telecommunications or data equipment. The most common twisted-pair connector is an 8-position, 8-contact (8P8C) modular plug and jack commonly referred to as an RJ45 connector.

- The GG45/ARJ45connector operates in the frequency spectrum between 600 MHz to 5 GHz with shielded twisted pair and twinax cables. To reduce crosstalk, two of the four pairs have been moved so that each pair occupies one corner. A protrusion on the socket is designed to activate a switch on the jack for the alternative contact positions. Combined with an internal system of Faraday cages, the GG45 interface therefore has plenty of headroom, plus the ability to migrate to higher speed service by upgrading to Category 7A patch cords that activate the switch in the jack.

Channel CHANEL testing: A single integrated cabling product is placed into the testing equipment for testing. Most of the channels involved are related to the testing of cables, which means testing the performance indicators such as throughput, attenuation, signal-to-noise ratio, crosstalk, etc. for the cable monomer.
The testing of links has more practical significance than the testing of channels
